The mission
BLACKNUNITED exists because land in the neighborhood is the one asset a community can hold without asking anyone outside it for permission. We've been taught to build community — networks, relationships, organizations — but not to build and hold the neighborhoods themselves. That's the gap, and it's why the same communities keep losing ground. BLACKNUNITED supports, perpetuates, and archives Houston's historically and predominantly Black neighborhoods: standing behind the people and places already here, carrying the culture forward, and keeping the record before it's erased.
